The concept of a world endodontic day was proposed by Secretary IFEA, Dr Gopi Krishna during the AGM of IFEA in the year 2022. This thought was unanimously endorsed by President IFEA Catherine Ricci and the executive and BOD and approved by all member countries of IFEA during the AGM of IFEA held at Santiago, Chile in 2022.

Ocotober 16th was chosen as the day to commemorate Endodontics globally as the World Endodontic Day. This was based on the following two significant calendar events:

• October was the month IFEA was incorporated as a federation in 1986.
• ⁠16th is the birthday of Louis Grossman, one of the foundational fathers of modern endodontics.

To commemorate this day all endodontics societies and associations have pledged to improve public awareness regarding our specialty amongst the general public as well amongst general dentists globally.

An online Global Endodontic Symposium is conducted by IFEA annually to commemorate this day and is telecast free of cost for the benefit of all dentists globally.
